Saku, Nagano - the almost the center of Japan island. Asama atelier creates
masterpieces in this highland.
The ruin of old castle, Goryokaku(the star fort), is near to the atelier.
The one in Hakodate, Hokkaido is much popular though.
In this star fort, there was an elementary school and that was the only
school built inside the ruin of castle in Japan. The master of this atelier,
Shigemitsu Sasaki, graduated this school. (The school was closed in 2019
unfortunately.)
You can see Yatsugatake mountains in the south and Asama-yama mountain
with smoke in the north of the atelier. The name of this atelier comes
from the northern.
The area is also famous for the biggest parabolic antenna of JAXA in Japan.
In 2005, this antenna could catch the message from Hayabusa, a robotic
spacecraft that had been lost in space for 2 month, and made Hayabusa project
success returning a sample of material from a small near-Earth asteroid. |

Asama atelier is covering numerous kinds of masterpieces including wallets,
keychains, caps, huntings, jackets, inners, pants…everything can be sawing
we would say. Actually, the priority goes to leather crafts like wallets
since we only have 2 craftsmen. Extra detailed work and extra focus are
crucial for those crafts.

Shigemitsu Sasaki - He smiles a lot but we call him “the damon Sasaki”
of Asama atelier. (The damon is “Oni” in Japanese and the place called
Oni-oshidashi is around Mt.
Asama.) We know his passion to his work.

Huntings: Every hat is made by We are creating Asama atelier. We can of course create
your “own” hats with your favorite materials.

| Winter clothing: They also develop winter clothing based on their experience
of severe cold weather here in Saku. |
|
|

Keychains: 20 kinds, including materials and colors, of keychains are manufactured.
The one with cow leather is in the image.

| Patterns: Lots of patterns for leather jackets are hung in line. We can create
leather jackets and pants alongside several goods. |

Creating the maximum lineups with the minimum equipments in PAIR SLOPE’s
ateliers…This is Asama atelier.

If you ride a bike for 5 minutes from Asama atelier to north, you can see
Mt. Asama.
